How to Set Up an Affiliate Marketing System

Affiliate programs allow a company to produce a great deal of traffic and in doing so increase sales levels due third party promotions and sales. Not only this, but as you only pay for what actually results into sales, it is an extremely effective way to advertise your services and products.

Depending on how many affiliates you choose to take on, your payment policy and the kind of products you have on offer, the setting up of your own affiliate system can be either very straightforward or totally daunting.

You have two options as far as your affiliate system is concerned and these are either outsourcing the whole lot or running your own affiliate system from your own web host. Both of these options have their benefits, just as they have their drawbacks. If you plan to have only a small number of affiliates you will be able to manage your own affiliate software. On the other hand, if a large number of affiliates are what you are looking for you may be better off outsourcing. This will make handling several sign ups, tracking payments and the monitoring of clicks much easier.

Different Types of Affiliates There are so many different types of affiliates available for you to choose from. You can opt for pay per sale which is when an individual is paid only upon the generation of a sale from the link of the affiliate. Unless the particular product you have on offer is in high demand, this is probably the least attractive option open to most affiliates.

Work From Home With Your Own Ebay Business

If you are looking to start your own home business you are not
alone. Thousands of people scour the internet daily for new work
at home ideas. One of these work at home ideas is to start your
own EBay business. You might be wondering how you can start your
own EBay business, lets explore this work at home business idea
a little further.

What is EBay?

EBay is the most popular online auction business. They have
millions of products just waiting for a new home. People will
buy almost anything on EBay. They have categories for almost any
product imaginable. EBay lets you list your items you have for
sale and allows you to include pictures of the items. You get to
choose how long the auction runs. They also offer several
different ways to make your auction stand out and get noticed.

So now that you know what EBay is, you may still be wondering
how you can make a successful home business from it. This is
easy. Take a look around your house. Do you see lots of things
laying around that you do not use or do not need? If you can
answer yes you can have a work from home business with EBay. A
good bit of the people selling on EBay are selling items they no
longer need or want at home. Instead of having that yearly
summer yard sale, take some pictures of the items and list them
on EBay. You will be surprised at what sells on EBay. Do you
have kids that have out grown their clothes? Are your shelves
cluttered with Knick knacks? These might not seem like something
that would be a good seller, but they are.

Do you make any type of craft or jewelry? These are the perfect
items to sell with your EBay business. Do you like to read? Do
you have tons of books that you have already read? These books
can be sold on EBay instead of taking up space on your
bookshelves.

There are all types of different items right in your own home
that would sell on EBay.

Running your own EBay business from home does not have to be a
hard job. Spend a weekend going through items you have stored
away in the attic or basement. If you have not used the things
in ages why not consider selling them through your new EBay
business.

You can ask your friends and family to give you any items they
have just sitting around collecting dust. Offer to help them
clean out their garages. Get your kids to part with the toys
they have not played with in the last ten years. Some of these
toys may be collector's items.

Running an EBay business allows you to work when you want to.
There are no set hours, no boss yelling at you, and no annoying
co workers. You can sell as little or as much as you want to.
Give it a shot. Try selling a few items and see how simple it
is. Before you know it you will have a successful work at home
EBay business. Just think how nice it will be to unclutter your
house and make some money at the same time. Source>>>

Facing tough economy, some turn to eBay

Facing tough economy, some turn to eBay

NEWTOWN -- With the economy in poor shape, residents of one of the wealthiest cities in Connecticut are searching for ways to increase the depth of their wallets.

Some are turning to eBay to help regain the money they've paid at the gas pump.

Kerri Cartelli, a stay-at-home mother of four from Newtown, started selling on eBay in 2003, after she had her third child.

Armed with a new digital camera her husband gave her, she began listing and selling children's clothing online.

Cartelli, who was a public school teacher in the Bronx before becoming a mother, decided to take an eBay certification course to put her teaching skills back in use.

"The greatest thing about eBay for me as a mom was that I didn't have to do it that day," Cartelli told the more than 50-person crowd that showed up for the first of two eBay selling seminars she gave last month at C.H. Booth Library.

One of the most attractive qualities of eBay is that sellers and buyers can post and purchase items 24 hours a day, which allows people to work around their hectic schedules and as frequently or infrequently they choose.

In fact, 1.3 million sellers worldwide use eBay as a primary or secondary source of income, Cartelli said.

The flexibility and convenience of eBay, as well as the ability to make a high profit, are some of the major reasons Cartelli continues to sell on eBay.

She said she posts her items and corresponds with buyers on her laptop
Advertisement
while her children are in bed. She does all her eBay work at night, except taking pictures of items she wants to sell, which she does during the day because her children enjoy watching her do it.

She said the first words from her older children when they get home from school are often about whether she sold anything online that day.

Besides teaching the basics of how to set up a seller account, receive and make payments, list items and ship them, Cartelli used the two-hour seminar to dispel myths and fears people have about selling online.

"If you put it for $1 and someone bids on it, you have to sell it," unless you list a reserve price," Cartelli said. "You need to know what you are willing to let it go for."

People of all ages attended the free seminars sponsored by the library. Three sisters who are home-schooled asked about selling historical dresses and homemade jewelry.

Elderly couples came to learn how to make some money during their retirement years. Working and single mothers showed up to find out how to earn extra money during their free time.

She assured people they will not have their identities stolen. Everyone is asked the same questions when they register, including their checking account information if they sign up for PayPal.

PayPal is a service that allows people to have money taken out of or deposited in their checking accounts, to avoid the hassle of sending money orders or personal checks.

"Don't panic when you put in your checking account (number). There's no one watching ... It's 2008," she said. "It's fun. Enjoy it -- don't panic."

"We go to church and drink the wine. I don't know where that cup's been!" she told the crowd, causing laughter to erupt throughout the room.

One important thing Cartelli emphasized is that eBay and PayPal will never send e-mails. All correspondence is done within the Web site, except PayPal notifying that money has been deposited in a checking account.

So never click on a link and enter personal information, she warned. Always go to eBay.com and sign in to check messages.

Another facet of eBay is the "Buy it now" feature, which allows people to purchase an item for a set cost instead of entering a bidding war with other online shoppers.

"Now people can actually go to sleep, knowing they win," Cartelli said.

To list an item as a "Buy it now," sellers need to have previously bought or sold 10 items, she said.

"Once you do it a few times, you will be like 'Why didn't I do this before?"

The New Era of Travel Affiliate Marketing

Posted on October 10, 2008 | 2 Views

Related Categories: Affiliate Programs

Several weeks ago, a couple of longtime readers came to me with some intriguing questions covering all aspects of affiliate marketing in the travel industry. While my personal experience with the affiliate world is admittedly limited, the quickly changing landscape of search and social media marketing (SMM) will undoubtedly have an impact on travel affiliates.

But as the travel segment gets increasing crowded, and the major online travel agencies (OTAs) continue to build brand identity, the race to leverage new opportunities in search and social media is most definitely on for smaller players. Other questions about the economy also hover like a dark cloud over the travel industry, but all the recent stats about online travel point to growth in 2008.

To sustain this level of growth, the questions are plentiful: will OTAs become increasingly more dependent on their affiliates and aggregators to generate valuable customers? With shrinking commissions and lower margins, how can those affiliates increase their own revenue share? How are they going to separate themselves from the masses, when travel affiliate content is inherently similar? And perhaps the most important question, just how important are affiliates to the online travel industry?

How Big is the Travel Affiliate Space?

Unfortunately, collective data about the overall contribution of travel affiliates is sparse. Diane Clarkson, analyst for Jupiter Research, concedes that even they haven't looked specifically at the potential for this vertical. However, a recent retail report they published in May "indicates that US online marketers will spend $2.1 billion on affiliate marketing fees in 2008, an increase of 15 percent over the previous year. Between 2007 and 2012, online affiliate marketing spending will grow at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of nearly 13 percent to reach $3.3 billion."

While online retailers and financial services account for approximately one-half of the affiliate spending, they're followed closely by education, auto, travel, and then all other sectors. So a significant slice of $1.65 billion puts affiliates in the U.S. travel industry in a reasonably comfortable place.

Affiliate Tax Repeal on the Federal Level

Y Affiliate Voice has reported that there is federal action being taken to repeal the affiliate tax, which was introduced on October 1, 2008.

Last week Mr. Jim Bunning, a Senator from Kentucky introduced a bill that would eliminate affiliates from the definition of physical presence within a state. If it were to pass, this would mean that states would be prohibited from taxing out of state merchants if the only revenue sharing connection are affiliates.

While still in the very early stages, there is an encouraging sign. Having a sponsor is important, and there is a sponsor for the bill, Mr Bunning. The bill was read twice, as required, and was referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. The bill number is S. 3670.

This is "A bill to regulate certain State and local taxation of electronic commerce, and for other purposes", according to OpenCongress. source>>>
